Mein bisher bester Kletterschuh:
- GENIALES DESIGN

These shoes are just a shade less specialized than the Furia S but no less capable -- just different. Slightly less sensitivity because of the different, harder insole, but what you gain is worth it for me. It also makes these shoes slightly more suited for steep/hard sport climbing and longer routes than the Furia S or Drago, and not just (indoor) bouldering.

What surprised me the most was how good the outside edge of the shoe still is, for such a soft and sensitive shoe: This is often a tradeoff you need to make, as on a softer shoe the edge of the sole tends to roll just a tiny bit when stepping on rounded or 'credit card' crimps. I put them to a test on a relatively hard indoor slab problem with flat, rounded holds and just assumed every foothold was going to work, and they did. Completely predictable and solid performance there!

On volumes and thus presumably on friction slab as well, the shoe is soft enough that you can't really blame it -- maybe tiny bit of a learning curve since the sensitivity is not tuned to absolute maximum, but still very good feel and easy to trust from the start.

I cannot wait to put them to test outside, where I imagine the characteristics will really shine: For climbing purely indoors, the Furia S or Drago or softer shoes from the Instinct line might be a better choice, but for outside or especially getting on steep sport climbing outside I think the Chimera is really going to shine.

The heel is heaps better, with considerably less dead space for me, than the old Furia. Sizing-wise, it feels tighter in 41 than the old Furia, but essentially the same as Furia S in the same size. I wear size 40 in Scarpa Helix, but 41 in everything else: What is nice about the recent Scarpa climbing shoes that you don't need to size them super tight to get the best performance; just snug is enough. I could go down half a size, but I don't think the performance would be any better.
